Vintage Generation D whistle?

Hello,

I’ve just acquired a vintage Generation whistle in D from a local charity shop for £1.

It’s got a ridge on the beak, unlike the current models. Sounds great! Beautiful sweet tone, slightly sharp (not tuned it yet), little air required, high octave not shrill at all.

Anyone with knowledge on how to date these? It’s nickel silver with the blue top. The nickel is worn around the fingers. Must have been someone’s workhorse.

Have you tried chocolate and flowers?

They were made until 1982

And plastic heads after the Second World War (early/mid 1950s?).

No, but I have one exactly like it that I bought in Belfast in 1975 or 1976. Pretty sure that it cost more than one quid even back then, so you got a deal.

Ugh, small crack appears on the head as I try to tune it. It’s lost it’s tone somewhat now. Must have had some heavy duty glue keeping it in place.

Oh well thanks anyway people.

That happens to many of the old plastic heads. On mine I just wrapped some red electricians tape over the crack and it works fine.

Best wishes

Steve

I super glued one and it is still working fine.
