When I drive around San Francisco, especially SOMA, I could swear that every single person is talking on a cellphone, leading me to conclude that they are ALL trying to get out of the Matrix. That movie touched on some very deep suspicions and senses…and it was successful, at least in part, because of them.
“…the sound of inevitability…” ok, so I’ve been trolling along and occasionally posting on this board for half a year or so, and enjoying all the camadarie, quips, anecdotes and good advice about whistling from all you fellow (and fellowette) C&F’ers. At the same time, I’ve been involved in a research project on philosophy in The Matrix trilogy, and just led a college seminar on philosophy and religion in the trilogy. So when I see an image of Neo et al here on C&F, well, it struck me a bit like Agent Smith’s comment to Neo in the first film: “…it seems that you’ve been living two lives…” I had actually thought about creating an avatar (as you see, I’m still avatarless) much like the image Erik posted, but alas, it’s been done already. Anyway, it’s just interesting to see something from the world of The Matrix appear here of all places.
p.s. hey Erik: this gives a whole different angle to Neo’s response to Tank in the first film:
Tank: Okay. So what do you need, besides a miracle?
Neo: [Guns. Lots of guns.] Whistles. Lots of whistles.
In the Matrix, they call me “Fingers of Fury”. Here, in the real world, they call me “Flub Finger”. That’s why I chose the blue pill. I made a deal that if I ratted all of you out, they would put me back into the Matrix as somebody named Paddy.
I also will have all of the whistles in the world (thereby also having all of the right whistles - and a decent helping of the wrong ones too).
Erik
p.s. stiofan, you are hereby welcome to my graphic to use as your avatar. While it has already been done, if the glove fits, wear it.
