Utterly blown away

In the last couple of days I came across both Davy Spillane and John McSherry for the first time while browsing youtube, and immediately went out and bought some of their albums.

Their playing on both the whistle and the Uilleann Pipes completely blew me away.

Listening to Spillane playing “Midnight Walker” and McSherry playing “Doinna” did something to me - I can’t quite describe it.

I didn’t know music could do that. It sounds like a broken man’s heart wailing.

I posted this for no other reason than I wanted to share my sheer astonishment.

In that case, I want to say that I still haven’t recovered from the shock of hearing Seamus Ennis playing the pipes, and that’s a good five years ago no. Still magnificent!
