Note: During the summer, we tend to meet on a bench near the
fountain behind the Tally Student Center, or on the balcony at the
back of the Student Center.
Tir Na Nog session

Every Sunday
A teacher will teach a tune from 3pm-4pm
And the session is from 4-6pm
The session is welcoming, and moderately paced, but it is restricted
to Irish Traditional music, played on “Traditional Irish” instruments.
As someone said recently, “No tubas.”

As far as I know, yes - so first weekend in November should be happening.
It’s an interesting venue. A huge, cavernous room with high ceilings and no carpet. This makes it extremely echo-ish. Good place for pipes!

Please note: As of January 2006, the NCSU Irish Session is meeting on Wednesdays, 4-5:30pm, in Price Music Center Rm. 110 on campus. The session is open to all musicians, and public parking is available in the Coliseum Parking Deck (building 99 on the above map).

The Summer semester brings further changes.
Also, the Pinecone Beginners session is really starting to pick up
again, so if you stopped coming due to lack of participation, please
consider showing up once more!
I went by the Skylight Exchange this week for the session that used to happen there, and the only other people looking for sessions were 2 guys who were just checking it out to see if it was as good as the Pittsboro one.
Not a whole lot of music happened.
The guy who organized that session (Paul Mitchell - nice guy and good fiddler) pulled the plug because the host wasn’t accomodating in a lot of ways. That was occasionally a very good session - folks from Durham and CH would often show. But they always had “live music” acts showing up, and pressured us to finish early.
In the summer the place was an absolute oven. I don’t know of any replacements in CH.
Owners of the general cafe store are remodelling for the next three months and will not hos the 2nd sunday session. Unclear about what hapens after that.

OK, looks like for now the Pittsboro session is moving to a Co-op
Grocery’s covered porch, a couple miles north of the General Store
Cafe. I hope there’s ceiling fans on that porch.
