When we the rest of the people are being asked and offering to open our hearts and homes to the victims of this horrid disaster, why oh why cannot our Government have the decency to allow our friends and allies in Europe and elsewhere to send much needed MREs and water pumps now being denied entry!
If the US adopts this attitude I wonder what is the difference between it and Saddams Iraq which also refused entry to humanitarian help.
Should the rest of the civilised world now invade the US and remove an irrational dicatator?
Plenty of domestic help is being stymied as well. People got together as individuals and companies and went down there, waited for hours to give and had mixed responses. It’s very frustrating.
I’ve read that for a while FEMA hasn’t been letting volunteers in until the city was secured by the National Guard.
On the radio I heard a similar horror story of food that couldn’t be distributed because a local FEMA official insisted on unavailable Guard escorts for any vehicles that delivered the food. This was outside of NO, in small towns along the Mississippi. Local police were happy to escort the vehicles, but FEMA wouldn’t allow it.
Call me crazy, but they seem awfully nervous about poor people.
Here in TX the highway patrol has been doing a great job, but park wardens stopped a Post Office van that had been taken by evacuees and arresting all got their picture in the national media!
