so it took me about 4 day to get used to it. at this point i would say: amazing. it is totally different than my copeland. the copeland is beautiful, easy to play, and sort of tries to be a flute, which is a good thing. the overton has no desire to be a flute- has its own character- also a good thing.
the overton (in blue) has added pluses:
my wife says it is the prettiest of all my whistles (9 and counting).
also, it is the only whistle i have seen in which absolutely nothing can break. the copeland is famously sturdy. but the slide can get stuck, and theoretically the delrin fipple could hurt. same for burkes, and that o ring could displace or wear. on my water weasel, the fipple shell separated from the fipple. on the overton, you could not break anything if you tried.
