Been a tricky one this. Local music shop has found a microphone stand with a type of bulldog clip that the end of the flute can rest in. The stand can go next to my wheelchai and be altered to suit the height I need the support. The mouthpiece of the flute has had a bicycle inner tube piece cut and doubled onto the end and then a bicycle pump tube fits snuggly on to that. Then With an electric carving knife we redesigned a foam back roll and sewed a velcro loop onto it to hold the bicycle pump end in so that the flute end rests on my left shoulder. 
Needs some tweaking as I did get some back ache but probably because I still twist my body a bit and I need an elbow support. But, after three weeks I can play quite a few basic tunes so I am happy.
