Update Carbon Epoxy Whistle Teaser Pics

If some of you were following the other thread about my whistles. Here’s a lil’ teaser for you. UPS Finaly delivered my Carbon tubing so I could get to work a little. Now it’s pretty late I couldn’t do much without my power tools, So these pics are mostly just to show what the tubing and the stainless steel look like… I am Currently glueing on the tuning slide collar though…

Yup that is my UBER tweaked Walton D in the background. The polished brass piece is going to be the fipple. Now that I have to take it back to work and take about 1/32 off of it becauce it’s too big to fit inside the tubing. And the Delrin I have is too small.. That’s for the PVC whistles anyway…

…And my messy workbench… Why yes that Is a Don Diego Cigar case… how perceptive of you to notice… the Cigar has long since been smoked…

Methinks I spotted a really good-looking whistle in there!

When are you going to unleash them into the world?

I’ve seen a work area that looks like that somewhere…I know…it’s in my basement. In my husband’s side of the basement. I hide my own tools from him so they don’t get lost.
Of course, he’s IT impaired and therefore doesn’t run the risk of getting dust in the keyboard, 'cause there isn’t one.

Well once I build two complete models, and I’m satisfied with the way they sound and play I’m thinking about a startes to whisper Whistle Tour… Who know’s… they might suck utterly and completely… fat chance of that happeneing though… What good whistle? Are you talking aboot me wal’uns?

Well she’s still in pieces, but I did fit together the Head and give her a couple of puffs. Boy does she have a voice. A little unrefined at the moment, but that will be fixed with some filing and polishing… and Well that and sealing up the fipple works wonders too.

The tubing that I purchased is the easiest and the hardest stuff I have worked with so far. It responds well to a fine tooth hack saw and all my needle files, but not so well to my Rotery Cutting bits or a Tubing cutter. It appears that anything “High Speed” will shatter this stuff like fine glass. So with this stuff at least I’m back to my old slow techniques. It is quite strong though. I took 2 foot piece and placed the ends on 2 4x4’s and stood on it. It bent a little bit, but Apperently 205 pounds isn’t enough to crack this stuff. If I did that to an aluminum tube or PVC It would make an awfully funny looking whistle…

Amar would love this…shame he’s on holiday in Scotland for two weeks.

Still, when he gets back… there’s this theory that Amar does a search for his own name on all the forums. Just think what it’ll be like when he gets back from two weeks holiday and finds…well, that some cruel and very childish person has stuck his name in every thread since he’s been away! :smiling_imp:

Amar, you say?

Have you checked the other boards, Gary? Perhaps we should mention this on the flute and UP sections . . .

Stuart

Heh,

Childish, doubtless, but oooooh soooooo amusing… just imagine, if someone, anyone, put the Swiss-dood’s name in every thread posted, in all the forums!

He’d have hundreds, nay, thousands, to wade through when he gets back from Scotland!

Yeah, you would not even have to bump a thread to do it. You could just edit some of your older threads with his name.

Waa Laa, instant “Amar Alerts”!

Another good word to imbed is “sex”. That usually gets his attention faster than his own name. :astonished:

Bump

Heh heheh
