OK, I promised myself I’d never ask something like this, but here goes.
Anyone watch the SciFi (US) channel series Battlestar Galactica? This last episode, last night, called The Hand of God, had a nice ?ballad? with UP in it.
Anyone who saw it, did you happen to recognize the tune / song? It was a recurrent subtheme, I guess you call it, with UP playing the melody. Then, at the end, after the battle was won, a choir came in and sang words (which could have been Irish but it wasn’t all that prominent) to the same tune.
I downloaded the credits for the episode but no music except the title sequence was mentioned.
Perhaps you could find a web site for the show and ask the producers directly. Or a really intense fan site - this kind of trivia question drives them nuts until someone finds an answer for you.
You kidding, I love the new BSG. Well written, acted, dark and edgy. I missed that episode but I found some evidnce of what you asked about. He comes in Brass and Ebony as well.
Hey Timmy, does his little red eye move in time to the tune. Imagine that… a built-in metronome in your head. It’s a pitty Lorne Greene isn’t still around for the new series.
From what I gathered at the BSG boards at scifi.com, I think it was written by McCreary for the series. Apparently the UP themes will appear in future episodes.
I don’t usually muck about in the scifi forums… but I wanted to know what the piece was as well.
There was one thread about the music from Friday’s episode agruing about whether it was a GHB tune or not… kinda funny. There was some mention of it being possibly “Irish” pipes or Northumbrians…but it was argued down.
What kind of geeks spend some/all of their time on discussion forums talking incessantly about their favorite obsession?
