So can I get me one of these special whistles on the 'net, and two orders of Chicken Pizza, to go?

Hey, Martin, shouldn’t you be saying "two orders of Chicken Pizza, > to take away> "? Or are translating yourself for the benefit of your North American audience?

On the subject of exotic whistles, I sure think it would be convenient to have one that shrinks when you don’t need it.

Yop, I was being all American for a minute. In Scotland they call it a “carry oot”, which I think is charming. Actually, I picked that one up from Bob Newhart, so I guess I’m showing my age again!

What about the telecopic laughing whistle? You slip out your whistle, all proud and shiny, and just when you’ve got ready to give it a good workout, the girls laugh, so you slip it away all nonchalant and humble.

Benny Hill, rest in peace, your place in British Comic History is secure.

I’m also surprised that nobody has pointed out that this kind of whistle should be hard to play.

Good one!

And yes, Benny Hill is surely Eternal.

Hey Bloomy,

you’re outposting me 1.76: 1, I joined the day after you, and we’re both lamers, & I haven’t drowned yet. How’s about that?

Does this Mexican Whistle have an integral tuning slide?

Does it suffer from clogging and moisture problems if played with too much?

Is Bob Newhart still going strong?

No no, Martin, you got that wrong. 1.76:1 is not the ratio of our posts, it’s the ratio of my IQ to yours. I don’t post anymore than you do, I think. It’s just that on my first day on c&f (before you joined), I posted about 300 posts, or so.

This member of the female folk is just quietly waiting for a picture. Which is worth a thousand words, ya know.

I just saw a digitized copy of the episode of ‘So Graham Norton’ (11-02-01) where Andrea Corr was one of the featured guests.
It made me remember this old post, because Graham took out what he called a “peni-whistle” and tried to get Andrea to play a tune on it!
It’s a pity she refused, but it is still one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen!
This one wasn’t ceramic though… it appeared to be an actual sex toy with a real pennywhistle inside it.
It actually worked, though not very well… Graham did manage to get a weak whistle sound out of it.
I wonder if it came from Mexico too! :stuck_out_tongue:

These things are objectionable, frankly.
Ceramic is shrill in the second
octave; often they have unpleasant acrid
sound and they’re not even internally
in tune. A friend returned from
Africa, on the other hand,
with a large wind instrument
shaped like a hippopotamus,
which had a strong bell tone.
I’d wait for one of those, personally

SWOON!!!

Nigella! Come quickly! This poor bloke needs a guacamole infusion!

Too too funny.

This reminds me of a popular lake in Akita Prefecture, Japan, where vendors were selling popsicles shaped like you-know-what. All the kids had one. Talk about culture shock… :astonished:

Having read this thread has reminded me of a similar incident. My parents clean for a shipping company, and some times I go to help them. Well this one day, a load of “wooden items” came in for India. It was along the same idea, only more varied, as it included bowls  , tables :astonished: , stands  , lamps  , and some rather uncomfortable looking seats :boggle:

And that would be forniture, I take it?

Ok, its offical, I’m disturbed :astonished: :boggle:

God, I love this board

Switchfoot, I’m glad you finally admitted you’re distyrbed! If you weren’t, you wouldn’t be a Chiff & Fippler!!!

I would love to give that whistle a blow job.

I might even lick it’s holes. (Nigella’s, too.)

Cranberry, do please find the meds you misplaced in your move and take them.

Come here, Nano. Come here, fast.

No way. You’d fall hopelessly in love with me, and my S.O. would kill us both.

Heh heh. Heh heh. Bet you do.

(Frighteningly easy to revert to adolescent humor, isn’t it? I feel like I should take a shower, now…)
