Ulster Project Fundraier in Knoxville

There was a roomful of musicians to entertain the patrons of the Ulster Project last night in Knoxville, Tennessee in Patrick Sullivans Pub. More of a session the patrons were allowed to hear rather than a formal show, a fun time was had by all.

‘Last night’s fun’ really set in when we adjourned to C&F member, Rick Hall’souse for a craic where, out of about 10 musicians, we ended up with 5 sets of pipes, and pipers of varying levels to match.

Jim Pogge, Matt McNeely, Zac Leger, host Rick, and myself puffed up the bags and proceeded to create a hell of a noise. We eventually regrouped and played some nice music. Watching Zac and Matt was truly inspiring. Jim an admitted newbie, was playing some nice stuff as well. Rick and I, sat in awe at times. Rick’s coming along nicely, as for myself, being at the bottom of the heap, but nothing 21 years of practice couldn’t cure.

Nevertheless, is was incredible to see and participate in. We answered the age-old question, “what’s worse than an out of tune set playing?”… 5 of them"

I thank Rick and am happy to report the Ulster Project raised twice as much this year as last regionally. It is a worthwhile charity that deserves you attention. It was an honor to be playing with the likes of these guys.

Yes indeedy, 'twas some fun, Tim! I feel very lucky indeed to have my house filled with music of that quality and on a quasi-regular basis what with our monthly house session in addition to the impromtu gatherings.
And on Monday nights the very recently, very loosely organized East Tennessee Uilleann Pipers Club (or ETUP as we like to say here in the South, because we are “et up with it” when it comes to piping  ) meets on a rotating basis. This is when my dear wife and my 17 y.o. son find other places to be! (Isn’t that goose dead yet?)
I’m glad you were able to come and join us and you are most welcome back, Tim whenever you aren’t “Out on the Ocean”.
