I’ve been turning various types of metal and have an idea on an ALL-NEW design for Uilleann drones.
Anyone think of tele-scopic drones, enabling a piper to tune ( possibly) to a B flat or C pitch. Theoretically it is possible by numbers using a formula, but haven’t drawn it up yet. Anyone having any metal turning expertise PM me or reply ..please I am interested in your thoughts.

Good idea. What sort of reed would be required for such drones? Is the standard drone reed “dynamic” enough to play a range of notes or would you have to use a regulator reed?
No actually in theory you would have to interchange the reed each time you try to play at the desired pitch. I am trying to start at a ‘B’ flat pitch onward to a Concert pitch, I’ve inputted the formaula and suceeded in finding a resonable solution to the issue.
It seems only the drones would be “telescopic”. I am presently working on the design, but nothing will start until after August.
