Good for parts…

Oh that’s just mean. You shouldn’t guide even the most obvious of idiots to a Pakistani made set. Unless they’re knowledgeable enough to rebore them, rekey them, or simply lucky like one person on the board who has a nice Pakistani set.

It’s the appropriate response to an obvious wind-up. After all, those are “ANY” parts.

Besides, if I’d have steered him to Quinn & Kohler, or Rogge, or Gallagher, or any other top-level pipe makers, he’d be wasting their time from useful pursuits.

im looking for used parts that people want to sell. not new ones. The point in buying used parts is there is not wait time for them to be made. So even if you had directed me to any of your so called “top-level pipe makers” i would have ignored you. funny joke though. maybe you should quit piping and start standup.

Maybe start with what you’re trying to build - a full set in D, C#, C, B or Bb. If in D, are you looking for wide bore or narrow bore?

Do you already have a chanter? If so, what pitch and who is the maker?

For used pipes, you should keep an eye on the classified section of the following websites:

www.uilleannobsession.com
www.pipers.ie

Also, check both websites for lists of pipemakers. Sometimes, pipemakers will have sets available for sale with little or no wait (if, for example, a customer has cancelled an order).

im looking for things in the key of D. I need a setup of d drones and 2 regs. I am planning on matching them to a pastoral chanter.

Here’s some to look at: http://www.uilleannobsession.com/classifieds.html#7

I’ve got a hinge-pin for a popping valve. A couple of lengths of waxed hemp and nylene (or whatever the heck that synthetic is called). Also some bits and pieces of reeds sitting about. Somewhere I’ve got a dirty hankie that I used to rub down a lovely Row(e)some Chanter in “D.”

I’ll trade you all of them for exactly one gold bar.

And we wonder why we are called “surly”

RORY

Hey. I didn’t say how big the gold bar had to be.

Sorry you’re having a hard time finding bits, Piper73. I’d help, but I got nothing except a DIY PVC chanter and a leaky DIY bellows and bag! Not of much help, unless you need a bad chanter pitched roughly in D#.

I tried looking for stuff like this too here, got no response. Seems like people don’t have much of that stuff just laying around. Still searching for a brass chanter stop key meself…

Sorry dude,

You can make a pretty nice stop key from an old silver (or silver plate) spoon/fork handle, bit of tubing and flat metal stock (or an old instrument pad) if you’re crafty.

Considering that nearly everything is handmade and in short supply if you’re looking for “parts” you’ll do better to either improvise or learn to craft them yourself. It’s amazing what you can find at hardware stores or adapt from (cheap) ebay or antique stores. Or visit an instrument repair shop and talk “shop.”

There are lots of options if you’re willing to do more than post a message saying “I needz partz yo!”
