Anyone know where to get good accompanying traditional tunes, kinda like just the back ground instuments… So one can play along with the pipes…

Funnily enough i have a tape somewhere of some Bodhran tutor(ha) and there is excellent tunes played on a variety of instruments(if i remember rightly i think the bodhran playing is only very quiet??). Now if i could remember where i last saw it. I think it was “the celtic beat” by “Colm Murphy” or something.
Anyway as far as i can remember at the time i thought that it would be a good album to play along with

Its not difficult to make your own karaoke tracks given that there is lots of music software around. I use one called “Transcribe” (its doesn’t) which will record, slow or speed up music, transpose and fine tune it. And, depending on how the original music was recorded, it is sometimes possible to eliminate one of the stereo tracks, thereby replacing O’Flynn with yourself in the Planxty lineup. Also, you can play alonga Ennis etc. at a speed to suit yourself (and it doesn’t matter if he is playing a C sharp chanter recorded at the wrong speed while you are playing a B flat). All good clean fun and I’ll let you you know in a month or two if it improves my piping.
