Two years ago I stopped smoking and then a year later after my asthma had eased I disacovered I could hold my breath long enough to play a whistle. The stopping smoking was very very hard and I still get cravings now but I smoked for 42 years starting at 8 years old in London. I hate snoke now and just love the whistle.
Congrats, Selkie! Way t’go! I’m about 17 years post cig, and believe it or not, the cravings are pretty much gone. What a waste of god knows how much money on smokes that COULD have gone for whistle purchases!
Seventeen years here, too! I admit, I still have the cravings now and then. I smoked 3 packs a day! Nearly killed me when I quit. I had physical withdrawals! But I am determined that no substance will ever have that much control over me again.
I tell you something that you must hope never goes away…the pride that you did it! So many people try and fail. I have a deal with people I know that smoke. If they quit for one year, I’ll take them out to eat…anywhere they want. I’ve taken 2 people out.
A patch may help, a special gum may help…but ultimately it comes down to you. Congratulations! YOU did it!

Congrats!

Hey Selkie! I’m fine until I walk into a smokey bar to play music, but just being around smoke at all fixes me so good I can’t play at all! Smoking really messed me up, and there’s no going back! I still get to the point where I think I’m gonna keel lover and turn blue!
