Preface: A friend of mine from our long-ago dissolute youth has departed this vale of tears for a Better Place. Among the vast number of things he was not able to take on his Journey were a number of musical instruments; a double bass, a celtic harp, an electric sitar, a couple of advanced synthesizers, a nyckelharpa, and two sets of uilleann pipes. About which this posting is concerned.
A year or so ago as his health declined precipitously, he started asking me to disposition some of these instruments. In honor of his mentorship to me and our decades of friendship, I have been doing so in a way that I hope he would have approved.
I am no player and, so far, have only been able to educate myself about these pipes through researching on the internet. I have created a Google Photos album page with several photos and descriptions of the two sets and some of the accessories that accompany them.
My fervent hope is that in the vasty wide world in which we live, there is someone who will cherish these pipes, and send out to the world the music that is in them. Sure I would like thousands for them, but if I find someone who can convince me these have been destined for their hands from aye, I’ll send them for shipping costs.
