tweaking tips for high Ds

After a few months of chiffandfipple consultations and many experiments on D whistles,here are a couple of improvements on existing tweaking methods.First,I have found that for filling the subcavity with putty rope style grey weatherstrip clay caulking from Ace hardware has better adhesion than poster putty or wax.Second,to get maximum clarity of tone,the slit beneath the labium ramp sometimes needs to be narrowed slightly.I use a piece of two way stick tape on top up the labium ramp to extend it ever so slightly.Next,I peel off the smooth top layer and replace with a slightly thicker top layer from a heavier piece of two way pictice mounting tape.The bottom layer is white while the upper layer is red.Both types of tape are available at the hardware,stationary,or pharmacy.With all of this in mind,my Feadog D I now call the “red dog”.I hope this info is helpful to fellow amateur tweakers
