Anyone got any tips for switching off the drones while playing? I’ve no problem switching them on while playing - just a flick of the wrist - but the same technique won’t work to turn them off. I have to lift the chanter off my knee to get my wrist around the valve switch to push it the other way. Any suggestion?
Better to use your thumb. That’s how I do it. As does Liam O’Flynn (in the Planxty DVD - Si Beag Si Mhor - must have got fed up with Andy forgetting which way to move it to turn them off at the right time
