Ohhhhh… Scott, you’ve certainly grabbed my attention now  I’ve been working on Rhapsody in Blue since the weekend. I used to play the whole thing half my life ago, and it’s so wonderful to find it again! I’m having a blast with it  Wish I could sit at my piano right now. Sadly, need to earn a living to be able to even keep the piano! At least, for now…

And I love the whole of West Side Story - Tonight is one of my favorites, as is Something’s Coming

I have the Beethoven on my computer, and am listening to it now. Do you like the Clockwork Orange soundtrack at all?

YESSSSS!!! Both of them, excellent choices!! Must find those ASAP

Have you ever been to a wedding where, instead of clinking glasses to get the bride and groom to kiss, they ask that you sing a song with the word “love” in it? These are ALWAYS the two in which I participate - in fact, I’ve INSTIGATED them! People have come to expect it from me now. I imagine that if I ever get married, there’ll be some pay back…

I had not heard of that, but it sounds like it would be fun.

Jollity Farm by the Bonzos

“it’s just a jump to the left”…

The Bothy Band in full flight never fail to bring a smile to my face and a warm glow to my heart.

Joni Mitchells “Amelia”, Dylans “Romance in Durango” and Tom Waits “Alice” are three songs that have made me very joyful over the past few days.

I could go on…

Slan,
D.

When I got married the entire Bridal Party danced to this, captured on video.

Ooooh, what about Van Morrison’s “In the Garden”? What a lovely tune. Not the same kind of mood as the others I started off with, but this one always perks me up. Reminds me of something I suppose.

And what of Doug and the Slugs?

I just noticed you wrote that in your list!! Man, I used to play that tune too when I was a kid! Was in a Mammoth book with a red cover or something…

Great memories… Must try that one tonight when I get home from my astrological chart reading

Anything sung by Eva Cassidy. She had one of the loveliest voices I’ve ever heard.

–James

Including “Over the Rainbow” which is not something I would normally like to hear.

Anything featuring the guitar playing of Jimi or Django for the reason above.

Anything by the Ramones because Joey & Co proved you do NOT need to be a genius to rock.

John Sheahan and Barney McKenna’s banjo nd whistle version of The Swallow’s Tail.

Ooh - everybody has such good songs!

How did I forget CCR? (yes, I still hear “there’s a BATHROOM on the right” even though I know the correct lyrics!)

Limbo rock.

Anybody else remember “They’re coming to take me away, ha-haaa!”?
