tuner

Hello everyone,

I am a cheapskate and don’t want to buy an electric tuner so I was thinking if I could tune a home made whistle by matching it with the ones that I hear in the site below.

Personally, I’d spend the £15 for a tuner. I couldn’t have made mine accurate without one, my ears simply aren’t as good as they used to be.

Also, I’ve no idea if there’s any frequency drift with the process involved in making Flash files.

An Intelli 500 or 900 will just clip right on the whistle. I find that more accurate than one with a mic. Alternatively, you can get a plug in croc-clip mic to use with any electric guitar tuner that clips on in the same way.

The other thing to bear in mind is that different makes of whistle have variations in the way they are tuned: a Feadog will not be exactly in tune with a Clarke which will not be exactly in tune with a Dixon or a Chieftain…

Which maker’s compromise do you want to tune to?
