Anyone have a resource for this tune, slipjig, ‘Luck of the Toss?’ Someone played it at a session recently, and I’ve got to learn it. Couldn’t find in on JC’s Tunefinder and another search site. Maybe, it’s a new composition?

Mapless Journey, the debut album from San Francisco fiddler, Kathy Buys
This album combines tradition with cutting edge fun, danceable tunes with calming tunes and songs. Some tunes only involve the haunting solo violin while others include accompaniment on piano, guitar, bouzouki, mandolin, bodhran, djembe, Irish whistles, French horn and didgeridoo. Guest musicians include Marla Fibish, Tim Hart, Tris King, Calvin Lai and Debbie Shaeffer and more! Please visit www.dragonsdance.net for more info and to hear a sample!
It mentions “Peter Winchell bouzouki”. Now why is that name familiar?
I’d love to hear (and host) a clip when someone has learned it. Always up for a good slipjig.

Because, Mike, it’s an incredibly small world. Peter Winchell is the same guy that I play with for weddings, and the Highland Games. (see Clips posts) I played at a session with Kathy Buys last night, along with Tris King and Tim Hart, who are also mentioned on Kathy’s cd. Who do you suppose played the tune? I emailed the concertina player who played along and I hope for a response from him. He told me he learned it from a cd by an accordianist. No doubt, the same one you directed me to on the amazon link. I was just hoping it was a trad tune I could find easily.
Thanks for the work.
