Tune origin?

Heard recently on BBC ‘Transatlantic Sessions’ (No. 5)

‘Wind Chime Dance’, Flying Circus.
First tune on the session.

Does anyone know if this is a completely original composition, or based on an old melody?
It’s luscious.

Thanks,
Deb

Get your facts right BBC - the tune Sharon Shannon is playing at the beginning is “Dreamcatcher” and not “Flying Circus”.

That said, Sharon’s clip is one of the best on this mostly over-produced show. Ali and Jerry are great but do we really need fiddle(s), pipes (or low whistle or flute), pedal steel, bass, drum kit, piano, bouzouki, and guitar(s) all at the same time? … which is not to take anything away from the musicians, who are all great. Just too many of them.

Agree 100%, JD. It often seems more like a job-creation scheme than a TV programme, but fair play to the musicians for getting the work and publicity, which will do them no harm at all in their professional careers. Blame the producers, who seem to think “more is better”.
