On TG4 Ceol Cartlann from 23rd April there is a tune the first of a set played on flute, concertina and bazoki( i think). It is the second set the players play and it starts at about 6 minutes in.Can anyone name it please. Just before they start one of the players mentions the tune The Bonny Hills if Leitram which I think is the last tune in the set.
Thanks
Tim
I think he calls it Phoirt le Whiskey? The Humour’s of Whiskey? The tune is fierce familiar. I know it under a different name but I can’t think of it myself this minute.
Pat.
Thanks Pat.I looked up Phoirt le Whiskey on session and it is very similar so I guess it is a variation as are so many tunes. Both are great tunes so I think I will use both possibly together as we do with several variations in the band I play with. We play Sporting Paddy with a variation over the top of the original tune and it works well as a harmony.
Hi Patric. A friend found the name Dever The Dancer (Paschal’s). I then got the dots from The Session. I sent the notes I had worked out to her previously and she had been working on the same tune. My version worked out by ear was right but for one note so we will be playing it out soon.
Thanks
Tim
