Tune I.D. please

What is the first tune being played here by Brian Finnegan? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hp-RndJFKz0

Thanks.

I tackled this one at least once before, without success.

   Thanks Mt.

Yeah, we kept crossing and deleting our posts.

I’ll be meeting with Brian sometime next month, so I’ll ask him if I think of it.

Cool, that is awesome that you are meeting him. I just sent him a message through myspace. I guess we will see if he responds or not.

As one of his first major projects since the breakup of Flook, Brian will be touring this fall with California guitarist William Coulter, and I’ve been helping out in a small way with some of the tour preparations. Should be a great show.

That is pretty cool.

Darn, no east coast shows!

Feadoggie

Is that a low F that he is playing?

Wow! Thanks, John!! I’ve changed my schedule to accommodate several dates in their itinerary.

Low G.

Thank you. It looks bigger than my low G, so I thought it was an F.

It IS indeed a low F… the size of whistle and fingering he plays is completely consistent with this.

Equivalent to playing a D whistle in F sharp minor - this equals concert pitch A minor on low F.

If you play what he is playing on a G whistle, you’ll be in B minor.

And I will transcribe it if there’s enough interest…

Oops, you’re right. I made the mistake of listening again only to the audio of the first tune. But from the video and fingering it’s clearly an F. Also, The Road to Errogie that follows in Bb (G fingering) is a dead giveaway.

The mystery tune does also fall nicely under the fingers in Em fingering on a G whistle, though.

I’ve added an official announcement to the City Guide / Events forum:
