Tunable and Fixed Pitch Whistles

I was just browsing around a few whistle sales sites when my slow and feeble brain finally got round to wondering why so many makers sell what is virtually the same whistle in both tunable and fixed pitch versions. Surely they wouldn’t go to all that trouble just to offer a version that’s a few bucks/quid/euros cheaper. Do fixed pitched whistles have any other advantages over their tunable cousins?
