True story...

A good friend of mine bought a car from another good friend yesterday. A grand little car it was and all. Only £250.(remember this bit) and it was taxed and everything else.

He sez to me will ye come out for a bit of a drive..I will sez I.

The car, a Volvo, was sound..built like a tank and an engine that moved..so far so good…
He drops me off outside our local pub and sez I’ll just park her up and come across for a few pints…get them in boy.

I got them in and halfway through my second pint I’m wondering where the Hell is Gordon…he lives five minutes away…A few of the boys asked me had I seen Gordon…yeah sez I..he bought that volvo that dave the brickie was selling…Nice little motor was the consensus..

Halfway through my third pint in walks Gordon…what kept ye sez I.

I had to phone my son sez he ..he looked a bit pissed off at the time..

Why not phone him from here I asked…he shook his head in disgust and explained to meself and the boys that when he parked the car up the safety belt would not open..no way Jose…so he had to get his son to come out and cut him out…

Once he got out he phoned the local Volvo dealer and asked how much a new safety belt was gonna cost…remember the £250. yep…that much…

I never saw so many people laugh so much…

True story.

Slan,

That totally sounds like something that would happen to me. Only I’m sure I wouldn’t be hitting the button right or something rather than it being stuck :stuck_out_tongue:

Very funny story, Dub

And not a surprising one, as these things go.

Another disgruntled Volvo driver ?

In the course of the discussion it was pointed out to Gordon that Dave the brickie never had that problem…yea sez Gordon, the little welsh bollix is only five foot tall and about six stone wet through…Gordon is a large kinda fella..most of the weight being in front.

One of those days that will pass into the folklore of the local.

Isn’t it absolutely amazing that inanimate objects can sense and count money to within $.03??

He might try ebay.co.uk.

I see used seat belts there for various Volvos for around £35.

Most seat belts aren’t complicated to replace. I replaced the driver’s side seat belt on my Honda Accord with a used one off eBay ($25.00), and it took about half an hour.

Best wishes,
Jerry

Volvo?

You’re talking about a Swedish made Ford, as in, Fixed Or Repaired Daily.

It’s kind of like the Italian Fiat automobile, Fix It Again Tony.

I drive a Ford, too. After all, it’s afFORDable.

I had the same experience with a Ford escort (dunno if it was sold or under that name in the UK). The dealer wanted $500 just for the part to mend the backseat belt the dog* chewed, but I got one from a wreckers for something like $45 and replaced in myself. I had to take out a lot of body panelling to find it, but ultimately it’s just a single bolt to the frame.

*The vehicle inspector wasn’t buying my “but no one sits back there but the dog, and he won’t wear a belt…” explanation.

Found On Road Dead

or if you like them

First On Race Day

(used to be GM all the way, but I’ve got a Hyundai now and I love it…)

Someone I work with got a new BMW SUV (I know a bit of an oxymoron). It’s got that no key lock and ignition thing. Her son got in it to do something and accidently locked the doors. He couldn’t get out - it’s keyed to his mom’s fingerprints. He had to call her on his cell phone to come and get him OUT of the car.

And one of the talk radio guys here had a long story about trying to get into one of these cars when the battery was dead. You can’t get the doors open to open the trunk to get to the battery. There’s evidently a little hidden panel on the back bumper that allows you to do so.
