Back in the '50s when I learned flute the teacher said to say TA-KA-TA on triplet
notes (the a’s are the short sound, not an A sound)…I suppose its the same in this
century, ha ha,
Lolly
Yup, Lollycross, it’s still the same. Blow a constant note, and “say” these syllables and the note will be interrupted into 3 short separate notes. This can be used as a substitute for some ornaments eg rolls, or just for variety. Takes some practice, but can be very useful if not overdone.
Those are one of the most interesting ornaments for the whistle in my opinion. I think there are a couple of postings where I asked for instructions and etc regarding this sometime back. Try running an archive check (I’m too lazy to run it for anyone right now):).
Thanks everyone…those were pretty easy directions. I expected this to be something very complicated. What a great place this is!
