My question? im going to ireland next friday, i live in the philadelphia area. Im staying in dublin, so i would like to check out the NPU headquarters maybe and get a lesson or two. i would leave my drones at home but i would like to bring my practice but could my reed get damaged being in the different environment. its one of david dayes reed which i understand is pretty durable.
Everyone I have heard from, even from very dry, problem areas, have said their reeds perked right up and sounded excellent when they went to Ireland. Just goes to show that the beast recognizes its natural environment.

I had an eye-opening experience on my last trip over… my usually sharp-playing chanter was a few cents flat after a couple days there.
“Woo hoo!” A ‘problem’ I can deal with! Somehow, the notes just sounded crisper there.
Piper’s pal. It could be good way to stabilizise humidity for reed, (used quite much for GHB reeds) Check kinnaird’ s site or some other ghb links.
Pipers pal could be a first aid , but after several months playing reed show’s it’s own
