My Olwell blackwood has come with me in my carry-on to every single country I’ve been to since I got it. So far the list is as follows: USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ireland, Germany, Holland, Sweden, Norway, Italy, South Africa, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Sri Lanka, plus lots of airports. So far I am asked to take it out of my bag almost every time, but I haven’t had any trouble beyond that. I should note as well, that through all this travel I have not had one single problem with my Olwell - no cracks, no major swelling or contraction - nothing. On top of that I rarely oil it, no do I humidify it - I just keep it in a Cavalarro case… it’s an amazingly well made flute.
Peace,
Chris
