Very useful tour, Enda. Not exhaustive by a long shot, but a really useful run through a few different makes there. Interesting to hear the various tones, and still I find myself drawn to the basic Generation brass D. What I grew up with, I suppose.
So, remind me again … which is your favourite whistle, sindtman84?

Yes I would always advice beginners to start with the cheaper whistles. As high end whistles are handcrafted to sometimes particular designs they can be heavier in weight too. The great thing about the whistle is that you can find a great cheap little generation or feadóg etc… that can last for years. There is no point paying big money for something that you might not continue with but hopefully you will! On other hand for more advanced musicians who are recording, teaching and performing and need consistent, quality tone, high end whistles such as the Sindt are a plus.

Yes, I was looking for a Trad Whistle Tour, maybe a Dixon Trad going out on tour for the new year. But alas, no sign-ups, no packages in the post, in short no tour. Now that would have been a traditional C&F tour. More like a whistle synopsis.
