I will be in Ottawa this weekend, and I am looking for an affordable place to take my grandparents for a good meal, and hear some great Irish music. Would anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hey Elerosse,
Unfortunately the only one I know of on the weekend is on Sunday (see http://chiffboard.mati.ca/viewtopic.php?t=21999&highlight=ottawa+sessions)
There is plenty of “Irish-Canadian music” around town, but not sessions that I know of.
Plenty of restaurants around the downtown core. Try the Heart and Crown for some good stew (this place gets nutty busy around 9ish on Friday and Saturday, good music, but lots of drunken university students… and we all just finished classes too
), The Aulde Dubliner has some nice fare as well. The Highlander has some good pub grub too.
The trick is getting there at a good time before the crowds show up. The Heart and Crown might be nice if you can show up early and have the patience to sit there until the music starts.
EDIT: Check out the Irish Village website here: http://www.irishvillage.ca/
That’s the group of pubs that the Heart and Crown is in.
OH! And don’t miss D’arcy McGee’s for really great pub food (love their bangers and mash)
Thanks for the suggestions Brian-I might be trying the Heart and Crown tomorrow night! I am town to check out Carleton U/visit my grandparents & relations, so just thought I’d try and find some good music.
Cheers!
Kaitlin
Hope you have a good time. I’m third year at Carleton, working on three essays as I write this… well, I should be writing them…
Small session at the Whitehouse Motel - Thousand Island Bar on Hightway 2 just east of Brockville (on the beautiful St Lawrence) from 2 - 5 pm on Sunday Dec 5
