I am off to Israel very soon,a friend’s son is getting married.
I used to spend a lot of time there touring with Tibetain Bowls.
I found an old add the other day and wondered what it said.
It’s below,if any one can translate it ,I’d be very grateful.
Don’t laugh.
Those were the days.
Do you worry about the future? Do you sometimes have trouble falling asleep, often reach for a cigarette, a drink, or a tranquilizer in order to reduce tension? Then Traditional Tibetain Bowl-making is the answer you’ve been waiting for! Learn this ancient and mysterious traditional drug-free relaxation technique from the guru himself! Only 20 shekels per lesson (concessions available for block booking).
Edited to add: At least, I think that’s “drug-free”, the script is a bit blurred.
I can only make out two words. Third line down, third and fourth words from the right (Hebrew is read R to L) phonetically spell out Phillip Hardy. Really.
In my limited experience, bashing the person in the picture repeatedly over the head with an empty bottle of Fullers ESB seems to provide enough respite from earache to afford sleep-related possibilities.
You got to it first but I saw that too. And second line…second from last word (second from the left) is Tibet. Word right before it is ‘shel’ which I believe means ‘of’ which would make the word right before it mean bowl. I think.
Mr Nate,I just wanted a translation as I have never known what they said in the add. It’s just a bit of fun.
Is that too much to ask?
Lets have a look at you,I see no name …nothing,I get sick of name callers who hide.
Phil.
I’m with Phil on this one… Isn’t it fascinating to read the (behind computer screen defence) courageous quotes of the anonymous and I have to ask myself would they have the same daring with my nose just inches from theirs? (I’m trying to trim my 240 lbs per 6”3 ½” carcass but muscle mass tends to get a bit weighty). At some things you just have to grin…
Don’t let 'em get you down Phil. Some folks are natural complainers. I knew a guy once who was so bad that if I gave him a sack full of gold, he’d have complained about how heavy it was.
It is a great poster. These ephemeral items are the ones that really bring back the times we’ve lived through and things we’ve forgotten. They are funny but also good documents for studying every day life. Well, this life does seem a bit unusual perhaps! I’m NOT laughing.
[quote="Mr.NatePhil, I just looked at my profile and there doesn’t seem to be a place to put your name! Nathan Fisher is my name and I am not hiding anywhere!
my apologies again!![/quote]
Oh, THAT Mr. Nate! I know this fellow, and he’s a good one.
Okay…a few new words…something about a didgeridoo from Australia (first two (rightmost) words of the third line), hand percussion, and a lively performance at some museum in jerusalem. Ringing tones…
