Tokyo Flute Meeting

Several Irish flute players in Tokyo got together last night.

Here are the flutes folks brought!!

We talked about the flutes, swapped and played together!!

It was fun, indeed!!

Was Kozo Toyota there? Met him in Tubbercurry this year. Nice chap and a great player.

Ken Matsusaka? Hatao (Tomoaki Hatakeyama)?

The boxwood 8 key on the end of the row, looks like the Firth, Hall & Pond that I worked on a couple of years ago.

Lowden,
Thanks for hosting the meeting!

Gabriel,
Yes, He was.
He introduced to us a lovely Derlin flute made by Vincenzo Di Mauro.

MTGuru,
Hatao-san or Ken-san wasn’t there.
They live away from Tokyo…

We had the 2nd Tokyo Irish Flute Meeting last night!

Mr. Ciaran Somers came all the way from County Carlow, and his sound was terrific :boggle: !!

Inspiring indeed. Good to see so many flute players in Japan. We were in Kyoto in 2008, and met some fine musicians in the Field pub there, where there is a regular session, Wednesdays and even Sundays think. Hatao was there too, great musician. Ciaran Somers is also a great musican, lucky to get him. Thanks for the photos of the flutes. No Wilkes flutes in Japan then?
