Tipple 'C' Flute, part one

Recently I purchased a Tipple ‘C’ flute from another board member. This flute is a 2006 model w/o the lip plate or wedge. After playing it a while I realized that the sound I was getting from it was very different from the Tipple ‘B’ nat flute I have. The difference being that the ‘B’ flute has a wedge and a lip plate. So, I asked Doug to make me a new hj w/ a lip plate and wedge. Here’s a sample of he Tipple ‘C’ w/o the wedge or lip plate. I expect the new hj to arrive this week and shall post the same two tunes again for a side by side comparison. In the meantime, here’s what I have to offer… not a great embrochure day, but hey, that happens.

I have Tipple flutes in D and in Bb, and each of them have the lip plate.

Moreover, I’ve found that with the lip plate, they don’t need the wedge because the lip plate offers enough riser height, to compensate.

For the money, the Tipple flute is a great flute!

You can manage the Bb? I’m impressed! :open_mouth:

Please, don’t be too impressed. The stretch between the fifth and sixth tone holes is more than I can comfortably bear while using a normal grip.

Doug uses an R1-R2-R4 grip. I’ve tried it, and it works well, but it bucks my habits.

Otherwise, the Tipple Bb is a fine flute.

And, it seems that Doug now has a new, reworked version on the way, good news!
