Time to geek-out with your bleep-out!!!!

Knight Rider debuted as a (hopefully) back-door-pilot-episode/made-for-TV-movie last night.

Yeah, that’s cool…

As a child of the 80s I grew up watching Knight Rider, and as a fan I think I’ve had a lot of patience with the franchise ( dear sweet lord, have I had a lot of patience! ).
Having put up with all the abuse and plain bllu shti the franchise has gone through, I’m mildly impressed with the latest offering that aired on NBC last night. I’d like to think there’s potential for a great series that mirrors the original in a 21st century updated way… but seeing the regurgitated flotsom that passes for television nowadays makes me hesitate.

I shall go home, turn on bittorrent and report back to this thread later in the week.

Did they underadvertise this, or have I just not been watching NBC much
because of the writer’s strike? I knew this was coming, but not that it had
already been broadcast. Apparantly, there’s a rebroadcast this Saturday
(2/23).

You can also see it on NBC’s website (broadband & flash required):

I was discussing the decision to use a Mustang with some friends. It
seemed less bad-ass than the original, then we thought about how a
Trans-Am would’ve seemed in the 80’s. Not a spectacular, high-end car,
but accessibly cool… So maybe the 'Stang’s not such a bad idea, after all.

I’m 6 minutes in, and it already seems better than the recent Bionic Woman
reboot. The opening theme is at least recognizable. They certainly divested
themselves of the “80’s font”. I wasn’t sure about Val Kilmer as KITT, but
it’s not bad.

I’ll probably go back and count the product placements when I have time.
So far Roomba and (of course) Ford have been promenantly displayed.

It’s almost as exciting as the live-action Scooby movie.

good times…

Oh snap! It’s the Hoff! Shoulda seen that coming…

Did you have the lunchbox?

OK, here’s something I thought was interesting about the Knight Rider reboot.
In the original 80’s series, the Foundation for Law and Government was a
private law enforcement group, generally hiding its existance from the U.S.
government. In the modern version, the Foundation is resurrected in full
cooperation with the FBI, and the first antagonist is the private military
company Blackwater.

(I can’t believe they actually used BlackWater’s name in the movie… public
opinion of military contractors is really in the crapper.)

Yeah, I noticed that about FLAG this time around…
Interesting change, I will say.
FLAG vs Blackwater…mercs fighting mercs…
it’s a good day to be a gun for hire, eh…especially if you own a black sportscar :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh please… it’s all just a rehash of the same old same old My Mother the Car premise.

KITT (in any inCARnation {nyuk :stuck_out_tongue: } )could kick the shiite out of Abagail Crabtree :swear:  :stuck_out_tongue:
