I’m having a go at composing but want to do some slow tunes. I’m wondering what sort of signature is commonly found for airs and if this is a rigid rule. i.e. I was taught a waltz was always 3/4 One, two, three, etc.
Slow air is a generic term. It could be 3/4, 4/4 or anything else. It could also be irregular, i.e., without a fixed time signature.
