Three Māori Flutes

The Pūtōrino or or bugle-flute. Played like a horn on the end and like a traverse flute using the middle hole.

The Kōauau, end blown with 3 holes.

And the Nguru, another end blown 2 holed flute often blown with the nose.

I couldn’t remember running across these before and searching YouTube provides some playing samples.

My parents brought this Kōauau back from New Zealand/Aotearoa for me about twenty years ago. I’ve always admired the craftmanship in the wood carving.
