Thoughts from the trough - a newbie whistler

I’m just trying to relax and enjoy the crisis…

Ah, such children. I started about 3 years ago, back when I was a mere 55 years of age. I figured learning something new would be good for me and I guess it has been–at least I enjoy the sound of my playing. I know I’ll never be really good with such a late start, but once in a while I manage to play something that sounds good to me, and I’m content with that. I have no other choice.

i just started the whistle recently. i’m just a kid of 52. i figure i have a good 40 years of playing ahead of me.

on the thing about speed… i’ve played guitar for about 35 years. even got lucky enough to make a living at it for a few years with an irish band (and some not so irish solo work on the side.) i know that a few fast songs will creep into me kit with time, but my first love on the guitar (and likely with the whistle, too) are the aires and ballads. just something about a well played haunting melody that gently stirs the soul.

anyway. love the forum… i’ll go back to lurking now.
