It is now September.
My David Daye uilleann pipes are estimated to be finished by the end of this month, beginning of October.
I’m getting antsy.

I feel your pain. Colin Dipper is apparently starting on the reeds for my custom order, which is only done toward the end of the waiting time.
Meanwhile, my Davy Stuart octave mando is… in limbo. Originally, was expected to take 8 months, but we’re now around month 11 and ship date is not imminent.
I just ordered a new laptop.
It’ll come way sooner than the 8-key all-wood Olwell Nicholson flute that I ordered about 4 years ago.
Waiting for instruments is the worst. Time just drags by. That is why I like to buy used. ![]()
Hi TWC
I normally like to buy used as well
, but my C and C# chanters from Chris Bayley are due any day now - all I am waiting for after that is my egg drum from Rob Forkner.

I bet these days passing waiting for your chanters seem eternal. Even when I do buy used, the days waiting for the postage are forever. I remember when I bought my Folk Flute new from Casey, and the waiting time was like three months. It was awful, even though that was a very reasonable waiting time.
It is still September.

Yes it is. And for a very long time to come. Harrrr! Harrrr! Harrrr!
checks the calendar
Almost not September. So close. On October 1, I am going to e-mail Mr. Daye and ask him where I am in the queue, since the original estimate was for the end of September.
My dowel chanter just doesn’t have the same appeal as a real instrument.
I know you are excited and would love to check in, but I wouldn’t contact him about it. Some makers get really bothered about check-in emails, though they probably do understand.
I resisted contacting Mr. Daye. I don’t want to come across as a pest.
