Seventy-one years ago on this day, the 21st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was passed. This Amendment repealed the 18th, which made illegal the consumption or posession of alcohol.
So go out to the bar tonight and celebrate the fall of Prohibition!

It’s my birthday today. Unfortunately I am turning 20, not 21.
Actually, according to The National Archives in Washington, DC | National Archives Museum, Amendment XXI was “Passed by Congress February 20, 1933. Ratified December 5, 1933.” But that’s no reason not to toast the occasion whenever you like…

Don’t I have egg on my face, I guess. My information was coming from the bar I play regular gigs at. They are having a Fall of Prohibition anniversary celebration all day today. I guess I didn’t think to check their math. But I trust you on it.

You need to go on a road trip to Canada. Legal age is 18, unless you get unlucky and end up in one of the provinces where it’s 19.
