The Sherlock Holmes Movie

I just saw it today. I’m not going to give anything away other than to say that it’s a most beautiful movie. Sometimes, I just watch (and don’t listen or follow the plot) of beautiful movies. Usually they’re in shades of green due to landscapes or oranges because of candlelight. This is the first blue and gray beautiful movie that I can remember seeing. The sets were panaramic and interesting too. I don’t know how accurate they were but I don’t care either.

I just saw it today also. Not exactly how I had ever pictured Holmes or Watson, but a pretty good movie. I wasn’t even thinking about who the mystery man was - and when that was revealed, I mentally went “duh. Of course.”

I saw it Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Marvellous computer generated sets and very well plotted. Completely different take on both of the main men making them far more violent than ever before. A huge surprise to hear Luke Kelly and the Dubliners on the soundtrack.
The ending, without giving anything away here, leaves it wide open for a sequel…no bad thing at all, at all.
Well worth a look..
Slan,

If, like me, anyone likes to imagine that there is still romance potentially available for the middle-aged,
then I will recommend It’s Complicated to you.
Funny and well-acted. Maybe a little too perfect, in terms of perfect house, perfect garden, perfect business, but, of course, 'tis fiction.

I saw the trailer during “Family Guy” or “The Cleavland Show”. It looks good but I find it odd to see American Actors playing these roles. I’m sure they do an adequate job at the accents . . . but I wonder if it bugs an english audience to watch these traditionally british roles being played by Hollywood stars.

Edit - OK, I just looked up a couple names, so it seems to be a bit mixed between English/American and the woman is Canadian. A bit like Tim Burton’s “Sleepy Hollow”, which had a cast I liked . . .

Isn’t Downey the only American in the film? Holmes has always been a bit of a Bohemian bum, it’s nice someone finally recognized the fact rather than all that prim and proper dribble that went before.

My fiance and I have been wondering if this movie would be appropriate for a 6 year old boy and a 9 year old girl. Both aren’t generally phased by a good fist fight or car chase and the like in a Hollywood action flick. Just wondering if the plot would be too far out of reach of young minds, or the story a bit too violent for younger viewers in your opinions. Thanks!

The movie wasn’t heavy on plot. Scenery, dialog, action, and faces is what this movie is about. There is the one scene, it’s in the trailers, where Sherlock is naked and handcuffed to a bed with a pillow strategically placed. If you’re OK with this then the kids should love the movie.

Nothing they don’t see all the time anyw…

uh…

I mean, sounds great! Thanks! hehehe

So just got back from the theater with the fiance and kidlins. Movie was great! All came out of it feeling happily satisfied.

Saw this movie tonight. First movie I’ve seen in a theater for over a year, I guess I don’t get out much. It was entertaining. It was also very loud, which is probably just me since I haven’t been in a theater for a while (though my friends thought it was loud too) and more violent than I thought it would be. But I liked it.

That’s why I try to remember to bring earplugs. Wadded up tissue works too. Even my husband, who usually has the TV volume up to 15, complains about movies and concerts.

Earplugs are a smart move. I have also used the earbuds from my mp3 player to block most of the sound. Hearing is far too valuable to take chances.

Somebody should put a vending machine right outside theaters selling earplugs.

What? Huh? Just got out of the Imax, I didn’t catch that! Lost some fillings too I’ll bet.

Hey, In the Woods, get with the program.

hmm.
jeremy brett remains a firm favorite.
I think plot is important.
