I have been burning the midnight oil (not to mention the candle at both ends) to get this website up and running, and even though it’s not completely finished, I feel it’s ready enough for it’s unveiling. It can be viewed here: http://pipersgrip.65gb.com/pipersgrip.html
I’d love to hear what you think, (good or bad) suggestions, comments etc. I’m especially looking for suggestions on more low whistle recordings. I hope to start posting my first few whistle reviews next week.
Thanks!
Kevin R.
Thank you all for your very kind words and encouragement, they help make all those 2am typing sessions worth it. I don’t know who was more ready to throw the computer out the window, me or my wife! Special thanks to those who provided some makers I missed, please keep 'em coming. Thank you Dale, coming from you that’s high praise. Cavefish, the “drawings” of the celtic lettering on the site are actually just a celtic computer font that I put through a program designed to create “sketchs” of photos. The title banner is an actual photo of an Overton low D put through said program. I won’t bombard the forum with posts everytime I update something (there is a news section on the site itself where I will list updates), but I will drop a post when I add a new low whistle review. Again, any suggestions or comments are always welcome! Thanks!
Kevin, this looks like it’s going to be a great resource. Very nice site.
Didn’t check out every nook and corner yet, but there was one small glitch on the home page for me. The photo of the regular D whistle with the Low D for comparison sits on top of the text – this is using Firefox to view the website.
Kevin, I’ve been trying to access the web site and it’s being blocked claiming its a “phishing” site. I’ve been before with no trouble so I thought I would let you know. I don’t know where the glitch is. Any suggestions? Steve Brown
The sight looks great and I’m very flattered you included me. I have just one small quibble and that is in your recordings/media section you have a youtube link, John McSherry-Armagh piping festival. Now, as talented as Mr McSherry is, this is in fact me playing, and whilst I don’t want people thinking I’m him, I’m sure he definately doesn’t want people thinking he’s me!
Oh man! I am very, very sorry! I will fix this as soon as I get home tonight. Awesome playing though, John should be flattered! By the way, if you read this Brendan, can you tell me if there is anyone I can get a copy of your CD from in the US, or do I need to order directly from you? I of course heard your low whistle tracks on your myspace site and had to include you in the recording link list, but would love to hear the rest of your CD!
Thanks!
Steve,
The site seems to be working for me now, although as a previous poster noted it seems to work best when viewed with Internet explorer. I am very unhappy with my sites current hosting service, as it seems to have issues on an almost daily basis, loads slow even when it is working, and doesn’t always load all the images the first time. I’m seriously considering moving the site, but from what I’ve heard, most free hosting services are the same, unless you get into ones that have heavy advertising forced on you. If anyone has any suggestions for a better host, I’d love to hear them! Thanks
Kevin R.
