Denny, I read that Phoenix got a direct hit with one of those coronal mass ejections causing a bright auroral display directly over South Mountain, a phenomena very uncommon for Phoenix, which is about 34 degrees north latitude. For what it’s worth, it sounds to me like one of those billion-ton clouds of energetic particles could do a lot of damage to our automobile finishes here on Earth, so I’m going to keep my car in the garage for the time being.
