I’m looking for the tune called “The mist covered mountains” on Rattling Banjos’ CD by Gerry O’Connor & David McNevin. Because this tune isn’t the well known “Mist Covered Mountain”. Maybe the title of the tune on Rattlin’ Banjos is wrong…
I think the name of the tune on “Rattlin’ Banjos” Cd is wrong (that cut is another tune, different to all versions of “Mist Covered” I know, although is a known tune too).
Take a look to Rattlin Banjos cut 39 (David McNevin) if you can, and you’ll see what tune I’m talking about.
I don’t think you’re watching the right video. I’m following along, and it
seems to be following the abc on thesession exactly, except for 2 measures
in the B part…

I can’t even find out where to buy this disc, let alone listen to a sample of
track 39. Do you know of a place we could hear a sample?
It seems to be the 2-CD set that accompanies “50 Solos for Irish Tenor Banjo” published by Waltons, and re-published in the US by Mel Bay. Since the CD is a performance of the transcription in the book, why not just look in the book?
There’s an common Irish setting by Junior Crehan of the Scottish air played as a double jig, but they are recognizably the same tune. Here’s a list of some recordings of the jig setting: http://www.irishtune.info/tune/1322/

Yes, I’ve got that book with all the scores. I’m thinking that I could show you that score…
Sure, that would be helpful. Maybe you can transcribe and post a few bits of it in ABC format? Or if you can scan the page, PM me and I’ll give you my e-mail so you can send it to me for ID purposes only.
Thank you Bill!
So, that tune is also known as MacDonald Of The Isles March To Harlaw, Mack’s Fancy, March Of Donald Lord Of The Isles To The Battle Of Harlaw, O’Reilly’s, Rover’s Return, The Rover’s Return, The Victor’s Return…
but not “The Mist Covered Mountain” as the score shows.
