After 72 years, the soap opera “Guiding Light” is going off the air. I’m speechless.

I recall watching this as a child, sick with measles, chicken pox, influenza, strep throat, pneumonia, and laid up with a leg in a cast . . . although not all at the same time . . . and the very name of the show conjures up the smell of rubbing alcohol, Vick’s Vaporub, Saltine Crackers, and chicken soup.
I had no idea that it was still ON the air. My gosh . . . 72 years! That must be 3 generations of actors! What happens to people like that?
