The glow of semi-professionalism!

After playing whistle for nearly 15 years I’ve finally moved beyond street performing or just annoying my cats. It started with St Patty’s Day and finding a guitar player for a gig at the bar I work at. We decided to keep playing and I decided to poke around and see if anyone would pick us up. Lo and behold, we landed a regular Tuesday night gig at one of the local Irish pubs here in St Augustine!! I’m actually getting paid to play whistle and sing! Not to mention a few pints on the house…woohoo!

It’s a great feeling to be asked to play for the public. I’ve always wanted to not just play but, to perform and now I get to do that! Maybe I can finally find a way to get a session started in this town!

I just wanted to share. If any of you ever happen to pass through my town please drop me a line and come play with us!

Cool transition!
(I’m still playing for the cats.)

Congratulations! Playing for a crowd is really fun. A steady gig is even better. Especially if it’s at your local pub. The live music atmosphere will really liven that place up once the word gets out. That’s also my goal for the whistle.

Congratulations! Hope it continues to go well. And may your weekly spot lead on to great things.

Well done. Inspires us beginners.

That is great Jason, Keep us posted on how it goes.

Excellent! Next thing you know you’ll be so popular, they’ll be asking you to play for free! (not kidding!)

This reminded me of the song by Peter Krug “I’m dying of exposure”. He wrote it after one too many festival organizers asked him to perform and said that they couldn’t pay him, but it would be great exposure.
