Full details can be seen on www.howardmusic.co.uk as the Sheffield pipemaker Brian Howard will be leading the piping classes and reedmaking. Brian’s new ‘reedmaking kit’ will be part of the package included for students. He runs the Sheffield pipers club and is a very good teacher. Students will be learing in small ability groups and will have access to computer aided learing facilites and so can have a lesson at any time!
Slow airs, as well as dance tunes will be covered and we shall work on ornamentation and technique rather than just knocking out lots of tunes. There will also be a sick pipes surgery, low whistle workshop, sessions in different waterside pubs every night and great food provided in the price. Crewing the narrowboat is optional as is simply sitting back and enjoying the river Thames!
I am glad to announce that more places have been filled, so the Tionol is going ahead. I do hope that this event can become an annual event, so the more support it gets, the more likely this is to happen.
Sounds like a blast. Perhaps one of these years I will have the time and the funds necessary to cross the pond and partake in what sounds like a really cool event.
