Arleen brought home a video, which she has been watching in stages over the last three days. She’s up to two hours and 56 minutes with no indication that the end’s anywhere in sight.
I LOVED that movie! I can’t remember what it’s called. I was so surprised when the village just burst into song at one point. It is perhaps a bit sappy, but in a very nice way. I don’t remember it being so long, but maybe it’s just that I liked it so much. That cricket match was exciting. Not that I understood what was going on, but… When the good guys cheered, you knew you should be happy.
Once, in high school, I was eating lunch with a group of friends. The person across from me picked up his milk carton to drink out of it, and I happened to notice that there was a joke on the back. It was some corny knock-knock joke or something of the like, not even remotely funny, but we all chuckled because it was stupid. So, it ends up that everyone at the table is reading these jokes off of the back of their milk cartons, and the laughing gets louder and louder. Well, it gets around to me, and this is the joke I found:
Q: What country makes the most movies?
A: India.
Now, picture someone telling that to you as a joke. Everyone sort of chuckled (unwilling to admit they didn’t get the joke on the back of the milk carton). After a few contemplative moments, I said, “I… I don’t think that was a joke.”
Uproarious laughter as everyone realized their mistake.
It wasn’t a joke, but it was quite possibly the funniest thing I’ve ever experienced.
