the best software???

Hiya folks!

I was wondering what was the best music program for reproducing, writing and printing whistle’s songs. I’ve got piping software, like PiobMaster and Electric Pipes. It would be great to have one like those, but for whistle. I can open .abc files, of course, but i’d like to hear them properly, not played by a bagpipe
I guess i could search the web.. but, i’m lazy, maybe you can help me faster

I am not familiar with piping software. Is that what you are using to play your abc files?

Have you heard of a program called ABCMus? If not, the link is below. This is an ABC format palyback program. You can download what is basically a fully functional demo version of this program, and depending on your soundcard, change the setting which determine which insrument is used to play back the abc files. For my Irish tunes, I set mine to fiddle.

If you are interested in recording your own tunes, a real simple basic digital recording software package is the N-Track studio. It is not as fancy as some of the big fancy programs, but for someone who just wants to record themself playing the whistle, or guitar or whatever, it is as easy to use as an old fashioned cassette recorder. All you need is a microphone and a stand. Info on this can be found at:

A free fully functional demo of this program is available at:

Thanks a lot Blaine, I’m taking a look at the links now. I’ll try to describe the programs I have; they let you edit the notations, listen to the songs, edit tempo and some other things (and one very useful: print the sheet). I used Electric Pipes to open abc files, and I heard the tunes in “bagpipe sound”. I’m gonna check the abc program tonight… the funny thing is that today i have a test (in 4 hours) and i’m hanging around here instead of reviewing all the stuff i had to study

… see you later…

On the bottom of page 3/ top of page 4 in the forum was a brief discussion on software that we had 2-3 weeks ago, if that helps.
