Anyone know if there are some online sheet music/ABC etc. for “The Beggar’s Opera” I am interested in the piece “Thus I Stand Like A Turk”.

I haven’t downloaded it, and I know it’s categorised as a libretto, but it says the music is included.

It’s all in .png graphics pages, so it shouldn’t be a big deal pulling out what you need.

Yep, that’s the one “AIR LXVIII. Lumps of Pudding, &c.” Page 92 on the HTML. I wouldn’t have thought of going to Project Gutenberg for a score.

Interesting, it turns out that the song is a traditional tune called “Lumps of Pudding”. I heard a harpsichord version that only mentions “Thus I stand like the Turk”.

Oh, go on with you! No harpsichordist is going to risk social death by playing a tune called “Lumps of Pudding”. Maybe there are harpsichordists with a sense of humour, but it will only go so far.

How do you think it would sound on Uillean pipes?
